Report recommends advertising department disbanded
The committee report, which was originally due to be turned in to the Provost Sept. 2, was chaired by Jim Coleman and consisted of evaluations and future recommendations for each of the three academic units ó advertising, journalism and the Institute of Communications Research ó as well as WILL broadcasting. ìThere appears to be little sense of direction based on a shared mission for the entire College, and we were struck by the walls that seem to exist between units,î the report said.

Political science professor removed
Hundreds of students came to their introductory political science lecture at Gregory Hall last Thursday to find something missing óÝtheir professor, Alan Arwine. Arwine was terminated on Sept. 8 for failing to perform his duties as an academic advisor, said Peter Nardulli, head of the political science department.
