On the front page of the DI on Monday, there was a picture of a sign which says: "Due to budget cuts, starting Fall 2003 the University is offering 338 fewer courses than were offered fall of last year, while average enrollment in all courses is up about 4.4 percent. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause." The caption says, "Photo illustration of sign at West Oregon Computer Services building about shortened hours due to budget cuts."
According to my friend who works for CITES, what the sign really says is "Due to budget cuts, starting Fall 2003 the Instructional Computer Sites will not be able to offer 24-hour service in any of its computer labs. This includes the English Site. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."
Before I knew that you changed what the sign actually said, I thought it a tad preposterous that anyone affiliated with the University would post a sign like that.
What were you thinking when you altered this photograph? Why did you not bother to make it clear this is what you did? The DI should be ashamed of itself for its lack of journalistic integrity.
