Classes not really optional

I arrived in my class this morning to discover that Wednesday's "optional attendance" and "time for reflection" were a joke. While I respect the fact that many people needed some type of normalcy in their lives after Tuesday's events, I am highly offended that I was not granted the same courtesy in my grieving process.

I needed to sit at home, glued to my TV and cheer when a survivor was found, and rejoice at the miracle of technology that allowed so many to say their goodbyes to loved ones. Shame on the teachers who continued on with new material. If you needed to teach that bad, perhaps you could have used Wednesday as a review session. Now on top of dealing with my feelings of immense sorrow, I must deal with falling behind in class.
