Outside Hitters Spark Illini Play
Rachel VanMeter is a first year outside hitter. Jessica Belter is at a new position, right side hitter. Melissa Vandrey is experiencing another injury-filled year. And all of it doesn’t matter. The trio of Illinois outside hitters have given Illinois head coach Don Hardin the outside presence to defeat top teams, despite the problems each has had to overcome.

Illini have strong showing at Invitational
The Illinois men’s tennis team did not have the same success at the Icy Hot/Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American tournament they had last fall, but their performance did show that the Illini would be a force in the spring.
Men's Cross Country
Bill strides to the front of Illini
When Illinois sophomore cross country runner Jason Bill qualified as a freshman for the 2002 NCAA Cross Country National Championships, Bill was the first Illini freshman since Craig Virgin to qualify as an individual. Virgin qualified for the national championship meet as a freshman in 1973 before becoming NCAA cross country national champion in 1975.
