 Fiery MSU smokes into Champaign
here’s good news for the 1-5 Illini as they head into Saturday’s home game against No. 21 Michigan State (11 a.m., espn2). After they were run over for 631 rushing yards by Wisconsin and Purdue the last two weekends, they get to face Michigan State (5-1), which has the second worst rushing offense in the Big Ten behind Illinois. Then there’s the bad news — in two words — Jeff Smoker.

Illini soccer faces toughtest test
Illinois’ five-game shutout streak ended last weekend, but they bring a seven-game unbeaten streak home this weekend. The No. 25 Illini play at Illinois Soccer Stadium for the first time since Sept. 21, as they host No. 11 Ohio State and No. 14 Penn State this weekend.
Volleyball
Volleyball returns home
It has been nearly a month since the Illini last entered an arena with a friendly crowd, and the withdrawal from not seeing Orange in the seats will be fixed tonight when the squad enters Huff Hall. The weekend matches open with Illinois hosting No. 11 Penn State tonight and Ohio State on Saturday.
Hockey
Hockey faces Michigan State
After coming off two dominating victories over Michigan, the Illini will defend their number two ranking against rival Michigan State this weekend.
