The Urbana City Council met briefly Monday evening and unanimously approved every item on the agenda, including an agreement for promotion and marketing services with the Urbana Business Association and a traffic code regarding Washington and Vine Streets.
The council opened with the agreement with the Urbana Business Association, with the condition that they would give the group $45,000 instead of the $50,000 requested in the proposal because the city budget only allotted $45,000.
The council also approved, without discussion, all standing committee reports for ordinances such as block grant program approvals and a traffic code prohibiting parking on Washington and Vine streets.
The council also unanimously approved a front and rear yard setback to a house at the 500 block of East Oregon Street. The house's residents want to create a breezeway between the house and garage on the property. The council also approved the construction of a 50 square foot sign along Lincoln Avenue provided that the sign is no more than seven feet tall.
Five Urbana residents received the council's unanimous approval to serve on local boards and commissions. Nancy Quisenberry was appointed to the Community Development Commission; April Getchius and Kate McDowell joined the Urbana Free Library Board; Scott Dossett was appointed to the Historic Preservation Commission and Candace Godbolt joined the Human Relations Commission.
