A love of volunteering
Junior in LAS Mike Mancera, 2003 graduate Aparna Puppala, junior in LAS Heather Pehlke and senior in LAS Angie Stewart volunteer at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, 2405 N. Shore Dr., Urbana, on Saturday as part of the Volunteer Illini Project's 40th anniversary celebration.
Mancera was offered tickets to Game 4 of the Division Series at Wrigley Field, but he passed them up to volunteer. Mancera said it was a "heart-breaking decision," but VIP had planned their anniversary for a long time and he felt he should be there to support the organization and "to help people."
