A 270-page report on the Chief Illiniwek dialogue will be available on the University Web site Wednesday afternoon, so long as everything goes as planned, said University spokesman Bill Murphy.

Former Cook County Circuit Court Judge Louis Garippo has finished compiling the 18,000 comments, letters and e-mails surrounding the April Intake Session and will send his report to the University Board of Trustees on Wednesday. A 70-page report will be sent electronically, and a 200-page appendix, consisting of "a number of different items (Garippo) thought trustees should see," will be sent via FedEx, Murphy said.

The University also plans to release another appendix with all 18,000 submissions on CD-ROM — which will be available to the public, possibly for a small fee — at an unknown point in the future, Murphy said.

Garippo will present a formal presentation of the report Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. in Foellinger Auditorium during the board's monthly meeting. At that point, the trustees will be able to ask Garippo questions about the report, then the public may follow with their own questions.

The board will not respond to Garippo's report at the November meeting. They might respond in March, since that is the next time the board meets at the Champaign-Urbana campus, Murphy said.
