Football
Illini, seniors in search of first Big Ten win The Illinois seniors will look to end a rollercoaster ride of a career on a high Saturday as they take on Northwestern at Memorial Stadium (11:10 a.m., ESPN-Plus).
The Illini’s 19 seniors, who have seen many ups and downs since arriving in Champaign in 1999 (2000 for those who didn’t redshirt), will play their fifth and last season-ending matchup against the Wildcats.

Women's Basketball
Illini start season with confidence Illinois women's basketball hosts Wayne State in the regular season opener tonight at 7 p.m. at Assembly Hall. Tonight’s opener against the Division II Warriors (1-2) should prove to be the softest opponent in a four game stretch that will span nine days.

Women in Sports
University looks back at women in sports In 1896 the University of Illinois hosted the first organized women’s athletic event. The event was a basketball game played in Military Hall. The Illini beat Wesleyan 28-14, setting the stage for the future of women’s athletics.
However, while the men’s programs moved forward, the women’s programs were stagnant and non-progressive. Until Title IX, a 1972 amendment which barred sexist discrimination in education, spread to the realm of athletics, women were not given the equal opportunity.

Wrestling
Wrestling kicks off season in Missouri The second-ranked Illini wrestling team will begin their season this weekend, which they hope will end in an NCAA championship.
On Sunday the team will travel to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Fourth Annual Missouri Open, where they will square off against several other nationally ranked teams.

Swimming and Diving
Swimmers prepared for tough competition Illinois will take both their individual and team habits to Bloomington, Ind., today as they compete in the Indiana Invitational. Being the first three day meet of the season, it is important to overcome any mental strain.

Women's Cross Country
Freshman runs for national title Running without a team is not a new concept for cross country freshman standout Cassie Hunt. Throughout high school she did not have a pack of teammates to run with. On Nov. 24 she won’t have a pack of teammates either.
Hunt qualified individually for the NCAA Championship meet in Cedar Falls, Iowa, by finishing fifth overall in the NCAA Regional meet on Nov. 15. The team fell short of qualifying by one spot.

Men's Tennis
Youth is no excuse
They may only be 18 and 19 years old, but Brian Baker and Rajeev Ram are taking the professional tennis circuit by storm. Thursday night the duo advanced to the semifinals of the Northwestern Mutual USTA Challenger. The tandem downed No.1-seeded Diego Ayala and Jeff Morrison 6-4, 6-4.
