Champaign:

• A 21-year-old Kankakee, Ill., man was arrested early Saturday morning for throwing dangerous materials from a balcony on the 400 block of East Healey Street.

According to a police report, an officer located the suspect after responding to a complaint. He was issued a notice to appear in court.

• A 58-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening for allegedly battering a 41-year-old man at a building at the zero block of East University Avenue.

According to a police report, the victim reported he was battered by a taxi driver in the parking lot.

• A 19-year-old Urbana man, a 17-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested Friday night for retail theft and disorderly conduct at a business on the 2000 block of North Neil Street.

According to a police report, four suspects entered the store. The suspects distracted the employees while one of them took three items of clothing. Three of the four suspects were apprehended.

• An attempted armed robbery occurred at a business at the 1400 block of North McKinley Avenue early Friday morning.

According to a police report, an unknown offender entered the business and attempted to commit an armed robbery. The suspect fled the area when confronted by a 44-year-old Urbana man. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

• A 39-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance at the intersection of Hickory and Garwood streets.

According to a police report, the suspect was stopped for riding a bicycle at night without a headlight. Police also found that the suspect had three outstanding warrants.

urbana:

• An unknown offender attempted to steal two cans of beer on Friday evening from Schnucks, 200 N. Vine St.

According to a police report, he ran and left the cans of beer when employees confronted him. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

• A theft occurred early Friday morning at a gas station at the 1000 block of Philo Road.

According to a police report, two unknown offenders entered the business and walked around. One of the suspects tried to steal two 18-packs of beer, while the other tried to distract a worker. The worker was able to grab the offender, making him drop one of the packs.

Both offenders fled prior to the arrival of the police. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

• A 20-year old Chicago man was arrested Friday night for possession of drug paraphernalia at the 600 block of Cunningham Avenue.

According to a police report, police stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation. Officers obtained consent to search the vehicle and found drug paraphernalia under the passenger seat.
