 Illini open first round of NCAA tournament at home
At the beginning of the season, not many people expected big things from the Illinois women’s soccer team. After a 10-11-1 record in 2002, all fans could have hoped for was improvement. If someone would have said the Illini would break numerous team records, win the Big Ten tournament and host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament anyone would have told them to keep dreaming. The dream continues tonight at 7:30 p.m. as No. 9 Illini host to the Western Michigan Broncos in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup.

Despite having the chance to pull away from a current Big Ten standings tie with Wisconsin, Illinois volleyball head coach Don Hardin says this weekend’s game is about more.

The pressure is off. The Illinois men’s cross country team underachieved finishing ninth at the Big Ten Conference meet two weeks ago. This weekend the Illini travel to Stillwater, Okla, to compete in the Midwest Regional.

The pressure is rising as the Illinois women’s cross country team travels southwest to partake in their NCAA Regional Championship meet in Stillwater, Okla. The team is one race away from qualifying for the NCAA Championship meet.

Hockey team looks for two wins
Illinois will be looking to snag two more victories this weekend as the Stallions of Western Michigan make their way to Champaign’s “Big Pond” to battle the No. 2 Illini.
Men's Tennis
Professionals come to campus
The Atkins Tennis Center will be transformed this weekend from the home of the 2003 NCAA Men’s Tennis Champions to the home of the eighth annual Northwestern Mutual USTA Challenger — the most prestigious professional tennis event in Illinois.
