Champaign:
According to a police report, an unknown offender stole an MP3 player, a softball bat, two radar detectors, three bottles of cologne and a black case containing 50 CDs from a vehicle on East Green Street last Wednesday. No signs of forced entry were detected, the report stated.
An unknown offender burglarized a vehicle on the 900 block of West Bradley Avenue on Tuesday, according to a police report. The report stated the offender broke the vehicle's passenger side window while it was parked in a driveway and stole a tool box and 55 CDs.
An unknown offender forced entry through an apartment's patio door and its window screen in the 2400 block of North Neil Street last Wednesday, according to a police report. A video camera, a 35 millimeter camera and some change were stolen, the report stated.
nA 43-year-old Champaign man and a 14-year-old Rantoul girl reported last Friday that they were battered by two unknown subjects while walking in the 1500 block of West Washington Street, according to a police report.
nA 28-year-old Urbana man was arrested near the 500 block of East Bradley Avenue for possession of cannabis and driving on a revoked license, according to a police report.
Police stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and found that the driver's license had been revoked. A search of the vehicle turned up 2.2 grams of cannabis, according to the report.
A 22-year-old Champaign man was battered by a group of suspects multiple times outside of a party on East Springfield Avenue on Sunday. He reported that one of them, a 20-year old man, struck him in the face with a beer bottle. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
Urbana:
Police arrested a 19-year-old Urbana man and a 23-year-old Urbana man for burglary Tuesday at County Market, 220 N. Broadway Avenue.
According to a police report, store employees saw the men concealing liquor underneath their clothes and stopped them when they attempted to leave the store without paying.
Police arrested a 34-year-old man on the 800 block of West Green Street Tuesday for committing a hate crime, aggravated assault and disturbing the peace, according to a police report.
The man attempted to buy beer at a store without proper identification, the report stated. When the clerk refused to sell to him, the man made a derogatory racial statement towards the clerk and spit at him. He then acted as though he had a gun under his jacket and threatened to blow up the store. Afterwards, the man went across the street to a University residence hall and told two students he'd hurt them if they testified against him.
A 43-year-old man was arrested on the 1200 block of West University Avenue for aggravated battery Tuesday.
According to a police report, the man approached a family walking down the street and asked for money. When the family refused and attempted to detain the man, he hit one of the family members, a 47-year-old man, in the face. The offender was later identified and arrested.
