C-U Government

Nestled between the cities of Champaign and Urbana, the University is affected by their laws. Composed of nine members, the Champaign City Council governs over campus west of Wright Street. Mayor Jerry Schweighart presides at each council meeting, held at 7:00 p.m. each Tuesday in the council chambers, 102 N. Neil St., Champaign. Mike Ladue represents the campus area.

The Urbana City Council meets each Monday at 7:30 p.m. at 400 S. Vine St., Urbana. Mayor Tod Satterthwaite heads the eight-member group and Esther Patt represents the campus area.
