Champaign

An unknown offender forced entry into a 23-year-old Champaign man's apartment on the 1000 block of South Sixth Street early Saturday morning and stole a Dell laptop PC, according to a police report. No arrests have been made.

A 22-year-old Roselle, Ill., man reported that an unknown offender removed the stereo from his vehicle Monday evening where it was parked on the 600 block of East Armory Street. No arrests have been made, according to a police report.

An unknown suspect broke into Central High School, 610 W. University Ave., on Sunday evening and stole several food items.

According to a police report, the suspect gained entry to the school by breaking a window. No arrests have been made.

According to a police report, an unknown offender forced entry into a 28-year-old Champaign man's apartment on the 1100 block of South Northwood and stole a 9mm handgun Sunday evening.

The victim reported that the offender had also taken an 8mm camcorder. No arrests have been made.

A 28-year-old Champaign woman was arrested for possession of cannabis and driving without a valid drivers license early Tuesday morning on the 600 block of West Bloomington.

According to a police report, the offender was pulled over in a routine traffic stop because her vehicle was missing a headlight. The officer found less than 30 grams of cannabis in the car and arrested the driver.

Urbana

A News-Gazette newspaper vending machine was found near a dumpster behind a business on the 500 block of East Main Street on Monday.

According to a police report, the machine's lock was missing and all money inside had been removed. The News-Gazette said the machine was stolen from the Dairy Queen at 703 S. Neil St. in Champaign overnight. No suspects have been named.

According to a police report, an unknown offender stole bar tip money from The Office, 214 W. Main St., Monday afternoon. No arrests have been made.

University

An unlocked resident room in Blaisdell Hall was burglarized Monday evening by an unknown suspect. According to a police report, the stolen items totaled more than $2,900 in value and included a Toshiba laptop, a Canon digital camera, a cellular phone and a backpack.

A 22-year-old Peoria, Ill., man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol Monday evening on the 500 block of East Pennsylvania Avenue following a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Fourth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, according to a police report.

An 18-year-old Matteson, Ill., man was arrested early Monday morning on charges of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon at Snyder Hall.

According to a police report, police officers were called to Snyder Hall on a report of a subject armed with a knife. The offender was also issued a no-trespass letter banning him from University property.
